Blinds, Shutters & Curtains in Cambridge

We measure, advise on and fit made-to-measure blinds, shutters and curtains for homes across Cambridge. The city's neighbourhoods differ a great deal, so every recommendation starts with the actual windows in front of us.

One city, very different homes

Cambridge planning material describes established urban neighbourhoods, several conservation areas and major modern growth areas, with a built character that changes noticeably from one part of the city to the next. For window coverings that matters more than any postcode. A tall opening in an older terrace, a wall of glazing in a rear extension and a compact window in a newer apartment each call for a different approach, and we would rather see the window than guess from the street name.

We can arrange a free home survey in Cambridge. We bring samples, measure every opening and talk through light, privacy and how each room is used before suggesting anything.

What we are most often asked about

Older openings

Where a property has bays, deep reveals or sash-style windows, the measuring matters as much as the product. Bay window blinds, bay window shutters and bay window curtains all work, but each handles the angles differently. We check squareness and depth before recommending a recess or face fit.

Extensions and large glazing

Contemporary rear extensions often bring bifold doors, rooflights or roof lanterns. Bifold door blinds need to clear the folding panels, while roof window blinds depend on the window's make and model. Motorised options suit high or hard-to-reach glazing on selected systems.

Privacy on busier streets

In closely spaced streets, the usual question is how to keep daylight without being overlooked. Day & Night blinds, sheer layers and tier-on-tier shutters each give a different balance, and the right one depends on which part of the window faces the street.

Planning ahead in new homes

If you are moving into one of the city's newer developments, it helps to think about window coverings before decorating is finished. Motorised blinds may need a power supply planned in, and some Perfect Fit blinds only suit particular uPVC frame profiles. We can confirm compatibility at survey.

Where our showroom is

Our showroom is not in Cambridge itself. It is at 7 Regal Lane in Soham, north-east of the city, open Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 4:00pm and Friday 8:30am to 1:00pm. Many Cambridge customers simply book a home survey instead, since the samples come to you. If you would like to visit first, call 01223 756519 to check what is on display.

Questions we get asked

Is your showroom in Cambridge?

No. Our showroom is in Soham, at 7 Regal Lane. We come to Cambridge homes for surveys and fitting, bringing samples with us.

Can you fit blinds in a period property with uneven reveals?

Usually, yes. Uneven or out-of-square reveals are one reason we measure in person. We may suggest a face fit or a different product where a recess fit would leave awkward gaps.

Do you work on new-build homes in Cambridge's growth areas?

Yes. For new homes we can advise early on things like motorisation and frame compatibility, which is easier before decorating is finished.
