Why fitting matters

Shutters are fitted to the window with far less tolerance than a blind. The frame has to sit square even when the window is not, the panels have to clear handles and sills, and the louvres have to move freely once everything is in place. Getting that right starts long before fitting day.

Before manufacture

At the survey and measure we establish:

• Where the shutter will be fixed: inside the recess or on the face of the wall
• Which frame suits the reveal and any out-of-square openings
• The panel arrangement and where panels will fold
• Clearances for handles, sills, radiators and furniture
• How the window or door needs to keep operating
• Floor, sill and threshold conditions for tracked or door shutters
• Any access considerations

On fitting day

Our fitters will:

• Fix the frame securely and square to the window
• Hang and align the panels, keeping the clearances they need
• Check that windows and doors still open as intended
• Test every panel, hinge and louvre
• Show you how to operate and look after your shutters

What is included

Your quotation sets out exactly what the installation includes. Standard fitting is listed alongside any selected options, and anything outside a normal installation, such as building work, electrical work or making good beyond the fitting area, is identified separately so there are no surprises.

Different windows, different fittings

A bay, a shaped window, a pair of French doors and a wide opening with tracked panels each need a different approach. No-drill shutters fit to compatible frames without drilling into the wall. We explain the fitting method for each window at the survey.
