Charcoal screen-fabric roller blinds shading large windows

What we deliver

Office shading should control glare and heat without shutting out the daylight that makes a workplace pleasant to be in. We survey, specify, supply and install blinds for office fit-outs, refurbishments and occupied buildings, from a handful of meeting rooms to full floors of glazing.

Typical requirements

  • Screen glare — reducing bright sky and direct sun behind or beside monitors.
  • Solar gain — limiting heat build-up on sunny elevations.
  • Privacy — for ground-floor offices, glazed partitions and meeting rooms.
  • Dim-out or blackout — for presentation rooms, training rooms and video-call spaces.
  • Consistent appearance — a uniform look across a façade or floor plate.
  • Operation — manual, grouped or automated, depending on window size and height.

Glare, solar control and blackout are separate goals that call for different fabrics and systems. Our solar control, glare and blackout page explains the distinction.

Strong solutions

Roller blinds with screen fabrics are the workhorse of office shading: they cut glare while keeping a view out, depending on the fabric chosen. Solar screen blinds focus specifically on heat and glare. Blackout rollers suit meeting and presentation rooms, with side channels or cassettes considered where light gaps matter. Vertical blinds handle wide runs of glazing economically and allow light to be angled, while Venetian blinds give fine slat control in smaller offices. Motorised blinds and grouped control systems make sense for high-level, large or numerous windows. For reception and breakout areas with a softer, hospitality-style feel, curtains and voiles can work well.

Where overheating is the dominant problem, internal blinds have limits because the sun's energy has already passed through the glass. We will point out where external shading might be worth considering early.

Solar fabrics and performance data

Fabric performance varies with the specific fabric, its openness and even its colour. Where a specification sets performance targets, we work from the manufacturer's data for the exact fabric proposed rather than a general claim about a fabric type. FR fabric options are available on selected contract ranges, and certificates are supplied for the specified fabric.

Workplace automation

Automation can help blinds respond consistently to the sun, a schedule or wider building controls. What is possible depends on the exact motors, controllers and control topology, so any interface with a building management system is confirmed for the specific hardware rather than assumed.

What we need from you

  • Floor plans or elevations, and which rooms are included
  • How each space is used — open plan, meeting, presentation, reception
  • Any specification, brand guidelines or colour requirements
  • Whether the building will be occupied during installation
  • Whether motorisation or controls integration is wanted

Coordination and handover

In occupied offices we plan installation to limit disruption, including phased or out-of-hours working where agreed. For fit-outs we work to the contractor's programme and coordinate with ceilings, decoration and electrical trades. At handover we provide operating and care information and, for motorised systems, a record of how blinds are grouped and controlled.

Questions we get asked

Which blinds are best for reducing screen glare?

Roller blinds with a suitable screen fabric are usually the starting point, as they soften glare while keeping a view out. The right fabric depends on orientation, room use and how much daylight you want to keep, which we assess at survey.

Can meeting rooms be fully dark?

Blackout fabric blocks light through the fabric itself, but light can still pass around the edges. Where a room needs a much darker result, side channels or cassette systems can reduce gaps. We will explain what level of darkness is realistic for the window.

Can you install in an occupied office?

Yes. We plan the work to limit disruption and can phase installation floor by floor or room by room, with out-of-hours working where agreed.

Can blinds link to our building controls?

Possibly. Integration depends on the specific motors and controllers chosen and on your building's control system. We confirm compatibility for the exact hardware before proposing it.
