Tier-on-tier shutters with separate upper and lower panels

From first ideas to fitted shutters

Shutters are made for your windows, so the process is a little more involved than choosing a blind off the shelf. Each step is there to make sure the finished shutters look right, open properly and do what you need them to do.

1. Start at home or in the showroom

Book a free shutter survey at home, or visit our showroom in Soham to see shutter styles, colours and finishes first.

2. Design around the window

We talk about privacy, daylight and how you use the room, and look at how the window is built: which parts open, where the handles are and where panels can fold. From that we suggest the styles and layouts that genuinely suit it.

3. Measure

Each window is measured for the agreed configuration, including frame depth, angles in bays and any shaped sections.

4. Receive your quotation

Your quotation sets out the specification for each window and the service included, with any optional extras listed separately.

5. Confirm your order

Before you order, we confirm the range, colour, configuration and price, together with the current lead-time estimate for your chosen range and what the fitting includes.

6. Privacy while you wait

If your existing coverings have already come down, ask us about temporary blinds. Whether they are available for your order is confirmed with your quotation.

7. Manufacture

Your shutters are made to measure. Lead times depend on the range and the current production schedule, so we give you an estimate when you order. If timing matters, ask about our faster option.

8. Installation

Our fitters install the shutters, align the panels and check that every panel and louvre moves as it should. See shutter installation for what fitting involves.

9. Handover

Before we leave, we show you how to operate and look after your shutters, and make sure you are happy with how they work.

A lead-time estimate is not the same as a fixed fitting date. We arrange your installation once the shutters are ready, and will keep you updated.

Questions we get asked

How long does the whole process take?

It depends on the range you choose and the current production schedule. We give you a lead-time estimate when you order; ask us for the current position.

Do I have to visit the showroom?

No. Many customers start with a home survey. The showroom is there if you would like to see shutters first.

What happens if my windows are unusual?

Bays, shaped windows and doors are all measured on site, and we explain any limitations, such as fixed sections, before you order.
