Blinds, Shutters & Curtains in Impington
Impington sits alongside Histon on Cambridge's northern edge, sharing a neighbourhood plan and village design guide. We measure and fit made-to-measure blinds, shutters and curtains for homes here.

Why a village design guide matters to us
Impington is covered, with Histon, by an adopted neighbourhood plan and a dedicated South Cambridgeshire village design guide. Those documents deal with how the villages look and grow, not with blinds. What they tell us is that the local council recognises a mix of established and later housing here, so we should expect a variety of window types rather than one standard size.
In practice, that pushes us toward measuring every opening individually. Two windows that look identical from outside can differ by enough to matter for a recess-fitted blind.
Three decisions to make early
- Inside or outside the recess? An inside fit looks neat but needs enough depth and square sides. An outside fit can make a window feel larger and block more light at the edges.
- Corded, cordless or motorised? All internal blinds must meet UK child-safety requirements. Motorised blinds remove cords altogether and suit hard-to-reach windows, on selected systems.
- Fabric first, or look first? Some people want a particular feel, such as the warmth of wooden blinds or the softness of Roman blinds; others start from light and privacy. Either works, as long as the fabric suits the room.
Curtains and shutters too
Not every window needs a blind. Wave curtains give a clean, modern stack on a track, and tier-on-tier shutters let you open the top half independently of the bottom. We will explain the trade-offs honestly, including where we'd suggest something else.

Keeping blinds looking good
Most made-to-measure blinds need only light care: a regular dust with a soft brush or a vacuum on a low setting, and spot cleaning where the fabric allows it. Slatted blinds are easiest to wipe when closed. We'll give care advice specific to your products, because what's right for a wooden slat isn't right for a pleated fabric.
