Blinds, Shutters & Curtains in Cambourne
Cambourne is a major planned settlement west of Cambridge that is still growing, with further homes at Upper Cambourne and Cambourne Business Park. That makes it a place where early planning for window coverings really pays off.

Planning window coverings for a new home
South Cambridgeshire District Council documents Cambourne as a major settlement with active growth, including additional housing at Upper Cambourne and Cambourne Business Park. If you're buying or have just moved into a newer home here, a few decisions are easier to make early.
1. Power, before the paint
If you'd like motorised blinds on a large window or a high landing, mains-powered systems need a supply near the window. Battery options exist on selected systems and avoid rewiring, but it's still worth thinking about at the start.
2. Check the frames
Many new homes have uPVC windows. Perfect Fit blinds and no-drill blinds clip to compatible frames, sitting close to the glass and moving with tilting sashes. Compatibility depends on the frame and bead profile, which we check at survey.
3. Think in schemes
Doing the whole house at once lets you keep colours consistent from outside and choose the right product for each room: darkness for bedrooms, moisture-suitable materials for bathrooms, and privacy for street-facing windows. Our new-build blinds page covers the approach in more depth.
4. Large glazing
If your home has bifold doors or wide patio doors, the choice depends on how the doors open and where they stack. We would only recommend a system once we have seen how your doors operate.
Privacy on new streets
New developments sometimes put windows close to neighbours or paths. Day & Night blinds and privacy-focused options give flexibility through the day.
Survey and showroom
Send your Cambourne postcode through our survey form and we'll confirm a visit. Our showroom is in Soham, on the far side of Cambridge from Cambourne, so a home survey is usually the most practical first step.
Battery or mains?
For motorised blinds, battery-powered motors avoid wiring and are simpler to add to an existing home, but need recharging or replacing from time to time. Mains-powered motors need a supply near the window but don't need charging. Which is available depends on the system. We'll explain the options for your windows.
