Cherry-finish wooden blinds in a living room

South Cambridgeshire ward and parish records place Teversham in the Fen Ditton & Fulbourn ward, on the east side of Cambridge. We've kept this page focused on service rather than on generalisations about local houses.

What a Teversham survey covers

We arrive with samples of the fabrics, slats and finishes that suit the rooms you've mentioned, then:

  1. look at how each room is used and when it gets the sun;
  2. measure every window, including recess depth and any handles or sills that could get in the way;
  3. talk through options, including where a product isn't a good fit;
  4. follow up with a written recommendation and quote.

There's no obligation to go ahead. If you want to read more first, see questions to ask before ordering made-to-measure blinds.

Options worth knowing about

Pleated and cellular blinds are neat and light, and can be made to open from the top down, giving privacy at street level while letting light in above. FITtoFRAME blinds attach to compatible frames and are a different system from Perfect Fit. Tracks and poles matter as much as the curtains they carry; we'll suggest what suits your window width and ceiling.

Light-filtering, dim-out or blackout?

Fabrics fall into rough groups. Light-filtering fabrics soften daylight and give daytime privacy but let the room stay bright. Dim-out fabrics cut more light without full darkness, which suits living rooms and some bedrooms. Blackout fabrics block light passing through them, though some may still come round the edges of the blind. Choosing the right one for each room is usually more important than the blind type itself. We'll bring examples of each so you can compare them against your own windows.

If different people in the household want different things from the same room, layering a light-filtering blind with blackout curtains can give both.

Questions we get asked

What is a top-down, bottom-up blind?

A pleated or cellular blind that can be lowered from the top as well as raised from the bottom, so you can cover the lower part of a window and keep light coming in above.

Is FITtoFRAME the same as Perfect Fit?

No. They are different frame-fitted systems. Which one suits your windows depends on the frame, and we'll check at survey.
