Lime pleated blind

East Cambridgeshire first designated Littleport's conservation area in 1991 and has since extended it, with an official appraisal describing its character. Beyond the historic core, the town has seen later residential expansion. We avoid claiming more than that about local homes; what matters is how your windows work.

Fenland light

Open landscapes can mean long, low sunlight at either end of the day. If a room catches evening sun or early morning light, it's worth thinking about how much control you need.

Venetian and wooden blinds let you tilt slats to direct light. Roller blinds in a dim-out or blackout fabric handle bedrooms. For big windows or glazed doors, large window blinds explains what changes as sizes increase.

Warmth and draughts

Older properties can feel cooler near the glass. Cellular blinds and interlined curtains add a layer at the window. Our thermal comfort page covers the options without overstating what they'll do.

What happens at a survey

We'll bring samples, measure each opening, and recommend products room by room, including honest advice on where something won't work well. You'll receive a written quote afterwards.

Conservatories and garden rooms

Many homes have added a conservatory or garden room over the years. These spaces can get very hot in summer and cool in winter, and glare can make them hard to use. Conservatory blinds for the roof and sides are made to fit the specific structure, and pleated fabrics are often used because they're compact and can suit angled panes. Internal blinds help with comfort, but on strongly sunlit glazing external shading can be more effective. We'll be honest about which would help most, and explain the options for your conservatory at survey.

For conservatory roofs, the shape of each panel is recorded carefully at survey, since roof blinds are made to fit the individual panes rather than the overall opening.

Questions we get asked

What's best for a room that gets strong evening sun?

Slatted blinds you can tilt, such as venetian or wooden blinds, give fine control. A dim-out roller is simpler. We'll suggest one based on the room.

Will cellular blinds make my room warmer?

They add an insulating layer of trapped air at the window, which can help comfort. We don't quote energy-saving figures.
