Areas we cover
Blinds, Shutters & Curtains in Waterbeach
Waterbeach has a historic core, largely covered by its conservation area, alongside substantial growth and change. Whether your home is old or new, we start with a measured survey.

The Waterbeach Heritage and Character Assessment records that much of the historic village, the part shown on 1901 mapping, sits within the Waterbeach Conservation Area, and that historic fabric survives in the core. The village also has significant later growth, so the homes we visit here can be very different from one another.
Planning a whole-home scheme
People moving into newer Waterbeach homes often want to do every room at once. That's a good moment to think about consistency: matching headrail colours, choosing one fabric family for the front elevation, and deciding which rooms need darkness rather than simply shade.
- Bedrooms: blackout blinds or cellular blinds
- Living spaces: Day & Night or wooden blinds
- Patio and garden doors: patio door blinds or vertical blinds
- Bathroom: a moisture-suitable fabric or material, depending on the room's ventilation
If you are considering motorisation for some rooms, raise it at the survey. Mains-powered systems are easier to plan before decorating; battery options exist on selected systems.
Homes in the older core
In the conservation area, traditional openings may call for more careful measuring. Soft furnishings such as interlined curtains or Roman blinds often suit these rooms, while shutters give a crisper look. None of these is required; it is about what you want the room to feel like.
Privacy
Where a new street puts neighbours close by, a combination of sheers and blinds, or tilting shutter louvres, lets you keep daylight without feeling overlooked.

Bathrooms and en-suites
In a new home it's easy to overlook the bathroom until last. Moisture is the main issue: fabrics and materials vary in how well they cope with steam, and suitability depends on the specific product and how well the room is ventilated. Faux wood slats and moisture-suitable roller fabrics are common starting points, while frosted glass may need only a light-filtering blind. Our bathroom blinds page explains the choices.
